Gordon started his apprenticeship in Alan Baptie's Goldsmith’s workshop at Pittendreich near Kinross, Scotland in 1989. After a number of years learning to repair and manufacture jewellery he then joined the family business of A & R Murray in Fife continuing his trade.

 Gordon then set up his own business in 2003 supplying the trade and in 2005 opened a retail shop in Kirriemuir supplying individuals and shops with repairs and commissions as well as pieces made on the premises.
